Hey you! Yeah, you! Welcome to Mr. P. Explores, the UA-cam presence of the aforementioned Mr. P., documenting the adventures of a history teacher, urban explorer, lover of roadside oddities and the crazed imagination of a guy who finds excitement in seeing something for the first time! If you dig the mysterious things that exist beyond and just behind the everyday "normal" of routine life; if you are into the fantastic and often forgotten history that surrounds you on all sides; if you relish the thought of delving into places that most others won't...then this channel is the place to experience it. Make yourself at home and check out our many adventures, near home and abroad, and by all means, follow the channel and like a few videos as you go. Good to have you aboard for the ride! "Keep on exploring, and document it all!" -Mr. P.
Mr. P.'s "Tales from the Road": S01 Episode 03: "Bang Your Head"
In this episode of Mr. P.'s Tales from the Road, I dive into a very personal discussion on something that many of us deal with daily and have been dealing with so much more the last year as things have progressed throughout the pandemic: Mental health. Depression. Anxiety. And then a discussion on how urban exploration and photography is a light in the darkness while dealing with these maladies in life, and how doing what we do keeps us from going off the deep end when things are at their most turbulent. I ordinarily don't go this deep into things this personal, but events of the last few weeks have steered my mindset into thinking upon how things are and how we seek out our favorite abandoned spots to help us cope when the going gets tough. In any case, if you can relate or want to share your own personal experience, by all means, drop your story or tidbit into the comments section. We all need to support one another in mental health; the struggle is real. Keep on keepin' on and be well, gang. -Mr. P.

Hey there, all! We are on the eve of trying something new here on Mr. P. Explores; going back to my old radio daze and continuing on the thread of my love for telling a good story, I've decided to give the whole "Podcast/talking at people on the UA-cams" thing a stab, focusing on...well, "Tales from the Road," where every episode I tell a few stories from urban exploration adventures, talk phot...
Mr. P. Explores... An Abandoned Metals Processing Plant (Ashtabula, Ohio)
Переглядів 2,6 тис.3 роки тому
A look at some of the best sights from our first real factory explore; the decaying corpse of a metals processing and packaging plant in the post-industrial ruins of Ashtabula, Ohio. In addition to the wreckage we discovered there, the old factory seemed to be home to a scrapping and salvaging operation which was preying upon old rail transit cars from Long Island, NY and the state of Connectic...
Mr. P. Explores... The Peninsular Paper Company Remains (Ypsilanti, MI)
Переглядів 5944 роки тому
Two winters ago, we took a drive out to Ypsilanti, Michigan to check out a chunk of local history that appears to be doomed to the fate that many abandoned buildings face; the indignity of demolition and the consignation to being forgotten by future generations. That structure is the Peninsular Paper Company ruins on the banks of the Huron River; an old powerhouse with an amazingly preserved ol...
Mr. P. Explores... The Former Detroit Water and Sewage Garage - "Graffiti City" - Detroit, MI
Переглядів 2824 роки тому
In this installment of Mr. P. Explores, we head back up to the Motor City to take a look at a long abandoned Water and Sewage maintenance garage for the city of Detroit, Michigan. Once the HQ for the city's water department, it was abandoned decades ago and slowly became a Mecca for urban artists, who filled its empty halls and bays with some amazing and colorful urban art and "outsider" pieces...
Mr. P. Explores... The Leetonia Coke Ovens (Leetonia, Ohio)
Переглядів 2584 роки тому
In this episode of Mr. P. Explores, we head down to the small town of Leetonia, Ohio to check out the famous coke ovens that supplied the city of Youngstown with its coke for steel production back in the mid-to-late 1800’s. Looking somewhat (in my imagination) like the charming underground town of Hobbiton from The Lord of the Rings, the site is an amazing walk, complete with some old original ...
Mr. P Explores... "The Dropped Pin," An Abandoned Industrial Complex (Ashtabula, Ohio)
Переглядів 9894 роки тому
In this episode of Mr. P. Explores, we trek east out of Cleveland, to the lakeside post-industrial city of Ashtabula, Ohio, to check out a tip from a fellow explorer. Out in the wastelands of abandonment that seems to pervade the town, exists a crumbling, collapsing industrial ruin known only to us as “The Dropped Pin.” This massive complex contained a vast amount of concrete structures, all in...
Mr. P. Explores...The Abandoned Amherst Quarry Ruins (Amherst, Ohio)
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 роки тому
In Lorain County, Ohio, in the city of South Amherst, lie some of the biggest and most beautiful quarries in the state. Now defunct, the quarries once produced vast quantities of sandstone for buildings all across the nation, starting in the mid-1800's and operating all the way until 1992. Throughout the property lie the remnants of the once industrious and immense operation, including the old ...

In this brief walkthrough, we take a look at and inside of the former Pennsylvania Railroad's old roundhouse in Ashtabula, Ohio, where engines were once repaired and maintained. After its career as a roundhouse, this structure (according to research done) held a salvage company. Some of the old items salvaged are still inside and around the structure after that company dissolved and left the ro...
Mr. P. Explores... An Abandoned Luxury Hotel (Detroit, Michigan)

In this edition of Mr. P. Explores, we head to the Motor City to check out a fifteen story abandoned luxury hotel that was constructed in 1928. Adorned with beautiful Art Deco designs, this amazing tower was once a playground of the wealthy and powerful in Detroit, Michigan, in a far better economic time. With ballrooms, grand hallways and over 200 deluxe apartments all in a state of decay, com...

In this episode of Mr. P' Explores, we hit a first in my personal explorations: In the middle of Northeast Ohio, near Cleveland, the sounds of laughter once echoed through the warm summer evening, motors roared as kids tried their hand at maneuvering around a challenging go-kart track, the clink of balls hitting bats could be heard from batting cages and the soft glow of the overhead fluorescen...
Mr. P. Explores... The Clarion Tunnel and Trestle (Near Clarion, Pennsylvania)
Переглядів 2884 роки тому
On a tour of many old and abandoned rail sites in western Pennsylvania, our exploration group found itself far up in the hills near Clarion, PA, among the beautiful colors of the changing fall leaves in search of a rail line that had been built originally by the Franklin and Clearfield Railroad in 1909. The line had once tunneled through this rugged area and spanned the wide Clarion River, had ...

Mr. P. Explores... The Abandoned Leavittsburg Trestle (Near Youngstown, OH)
As of today, they are tearing it down July 24, 2024
I hauled out of there
i was a subcontractor that worked on the fire alarm equipment there back in its heyday, sad to see it looking this way, i remember watching drywall get made there, place was massive.. just as dirty as i remembered!
It’s obvious what some of the rooms were….anyone have any insight into what the function of this building was? Was it MOW work space?
More great content, thank you! I was here once just before it closed down as a kid, all I can recall is it was dirty smelled bad and was super dark. I seem to recall it moved to the Zoo and also Powerhouse (sortof) and then was just abandoned, save for some police usage.
Great video!! Thank you My grandpa used to work there. My grandparents lived in Bay view on Mohecan trail.
I've been there. Too bad it has been trashed. I would love to see what the inside used to look like.
Seen ur sticker at americas best value inn today wondering when you put that sticker up??
It's all gone as of April '23
My grandmother passed away today… she was born in 1934 and would tell us stories all the time about the polish club. This is where she married my Grandfather. This was in the backyard of her childhood home. She used to get her father a glass of 3.2 beer growing up. While it is in desolate shape it makes me so happy to see that the place she told me so many stories about really exists and is still there. I cant thank you enough for this video.
2023 and still no renovation...
Wow this place is BARELY recognizable now 😢
They cleared everything out and buffed all the graff when they tried to sell the place. So much cooler back in the day!
Man you didn't even show any of the holes you can walk 1000 feet down and around into a quarry back there with abandond equipment still there and somehow it doesn't fill up with water yet
Partied in these a lot growing up and lots of riding
This is the joint behind Borromeo,! I like the creative photography .That place is three streets away from me. It was party central for years.
Hydroelectric power here for the making but nooooo
This is what the USA does to historic railroad lines and yards. Ouch
Is it for sale
Very deep commentary, Mr. P. Looks like this was your last video on your channel. I'm sorry you've given up on "Tales from the Road."
Fascinating stories of your exploration in Gary. This is the 1st time I've heard the backstory of urban exploration. I need to find a partner to do this to cover my butt!
Hey Mr. P. Although I subscribed and hit the bell for all notifications, I don't recall seeing any notifications about this video. Just watched it and now on to the next 2 videos you posted since this one.
With pen and paper in hand, I was writing down time stamps while listening. After the ninth one, I figured what’s the point as this should be heard start to finish, but here’s two. 16:18 was really deep and what a moment that must have been for you. Then there’s 13:04… I don’t believe I have ever heard a more impactful statement on #UA-cam period. Ps, We got your back.. Stay well my friend, Stay exploring MNF 📷
Excellent buddy nice video
I didn't even know you had a UA-cam til now 😆 Great videos Mr.P! I was hoping to check this place out today, but I got a sick kid I gotta stay home with
didn't know it was gone - N Ridgeville, they've bulldozed a lot in the last few years
fieldtrips, winter weekends, the flood of memories this brings is astonishing - thank you! such a shame so much of the greay eastside history of Cleveland was abandoned or demolished for "progress" (Euclid corridor, what a joke)
There's a Spanish restaurant nearby straight ahead we used to go to iT and pass by this i was always like "mom wats this building" mom is like "I don't know"
Great pictures what's the story behind them
currently they are putting in a housing development
Sad. I thought the area back there was nice and peaceful...
@@MrPExplores where is the bridge located in the woods?
Awesome narration!
Im 38 and used to go when I was little ..its a gas station now...frienship
No it isn't. Still abandoned and for sale.
Your talking about the mini golf place off 57. This one is on cooper foster. Something is going on in there now. Sometimes the gates are open and I see lots of trucks in there.
@@kreator1776is something happening forsure? i grew up 10 mins from there and am just finding out abt it now but am in indiana for college, i wanna visit it but if theres construction going on i wont, do u know any update?
I remember riding along this stretch several times back in the 60s. I even remember when Laurel Hill tunnel was still in use!
Looks like the old Electro-Metallurgical Corp. property, right across the road is an old coal fired power plant that I worked at, it is mostly demolished now. They were a division of Union Carbide, then bought by Elkem.
No this is not the old Elkem plant on lake road, This was an ammo plant on state road that made ammunition during the war and years later it was the ACME scrap company till the 1980s
Hey there Mr P I can’t wait for you to get back into the explorations especially since most of the explores you do are in the Lorain County area which is where I live great content as always!
Thank you!
It would be nice if there was an investor with a vision to bring this back to life specially now there are new retail and fast food places off of 58 in Lorain
Awesome explore
I spend my saddest days here and turn them into the happiest freeing moments of my life
That safety first 🪧 is pretty cool!! Thank you for sharing some history with us! 📷🤘
Mr p it’s Dan I live right next to that I go there all the time
Best history teacher btw
I remember that house from when I was a kid, an uncle lived near it. This was mid 1980s and I recall it was inhabited then, or seemed so from Chestnut Ridge. Thought it was a cool idea. Awesome to see inside it finally. Drove by it in 2022, was gone and developer signs near it. 32076 Chestnut Ridge, google maps street view in 2009 has a garage, empty in 2013 it seems sans garage.
Love the idea man, looking forward to more, shared it with the group chat as well.
Interesting !
That is by my house house
Can u tell me how to get there
You definately have a radio voice
Thanks!
Welcome back and really enjoyed your photography on the Instagram and Facebook Page. Your are right it's not about the fame it's about the adventure..
Thanks, man! Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! And I'm 52 and still into UE, although I take less risks than I used to. First official or unofficial UE was a group of us trying to find the old Gore Orphanage foundation after hearing about it on a local radio station in the late 1980's.
Thanks! You know, I've been all over, but NEVER to Gore Orphanage!
@@MrPExplores I haven’t either. We never found it!
@@SixbyFire I'd heard all that was left was some foundations in the woods. I guess it burned down a few decades ago?
Really gives me a hillandale bridge vibe
Also it closed down in 2002 and was left abandoned ever since.
Isn’t this in the Lorain/Amherst area? If so, they’re trying to sell that land for commercial as in retail or possible shopping centers.
Thank you so much for this...when I was a child we drove past this club every Sunday after visiting my grandparents...there was music, glasses clinking, laughter, all taking place behind glass block windows which made it seem mysterious to a kid...this vid is a testimony to what happened to Lorain in general after the opening of the Midway Mall in 1967 which decimated the Broadway of my youth to which it never recovered...long live the Tivoli theater!!!
There’s an underground tunnel somewhere around there that leads to the basement of Coulby mansion.
WHAT. Me and my friends go in all the time but a tunnel? No way
